For the life of me, I can’t remember what kind of board this is. Nice logo though.

  3. mitch Says:

have to agree with burnsie…pretty sure that’s a surftech

  4. rob70 Says:

I’m not sure how this happend, but it IS a surftech. Please viewers, don’t browse the shops while drinking and for god’s sakes, please buy surfboards made by surfers.

    I’ve adjusted the photo slightly.

Kenny Tilton maybe. Hawaii shaper under the parrish lineage.

  8. stephen Says:

    deffinetly a Kenny tilton board

  9. stephen Says:

but no parrish lineage kenny still shapes and has done so since 1954ant to find him? 808 281 3115 Stephen

Thanks for the comments Mike and Stephen, but this board has been identified as a Popout. Accordingly it was assembled, not shaped, by some guy in indo who doesn’t surf. If the original model is indeed a Kenny Tilton board, I’d be happy to post it here in contrast.

Rob, I thought I could post images to this blog. Here is a link to an original Kenny Tilton logo. It’s from a 6’8″ pintail he made me long ago. The logo are some what similar.

    Thanks Mike!

Kenny’s youngest boy is a shaper, Makani, he is with 808 and here’s the email for him:
Makani McDonald: info@808shapes.com or go on-site to:
    http://www.808shapes.com/
Kenny is listed and shown on the site There’s a photo of him with his “10’2″ Hot Curl board he created for the Surfrider Foundations Maui Chapter”. It goes on to say “Several Hawaii hotels and restaurants have commissioned Tilton to create these and other treasured wood board designs of the past”. His page on the 808 site is in the works, not up and running yet.

He has been involved with shaping traditional Hawaiian Native Woods surfboards for the International Festival of Canoes on Maui. He’s been into that for the past ten years he tells me. He’s also listed on UTube at a gallery show featuring glass blowing and his traditional boards, he comes in on the video not long after the intro to the show at DaFactory on Maui.

    Hope this of some help.

I can’t imagine Kenny being involved in a factory made board, something not hand shaped by a surfer. Seens to be against everything he would have ever wanted to do. I know he turned down a big offer by the Japanese on his wind surfers, etc. They wanted to build a factory for him, he wanted no part of it I hear.

Kenny, Bing, (he made the first skate board you know), and Johnny Rice were shapers for Velzy, and their logo’s remind me of Dales. Johnny is still doing boards, he’s in Santa Cruz, and Bing is still in the business, and Kenny, he is doing what he loves as well.
