Former southern California surfing standout Tom Wegener moved to Australia in the late ’90s, where he settled down to start a family and a surfboard business. Over the past decade, Tom has focused his craft around building hollow, wooden boards and has poured a ton of work and research into riding ancient Hawaiian surfcraft known as alaias. Join Tom for a slide show and video about wood boards and the speed and thrill of riding a flat piece of wood without any fins.

Think Baja violence is confined to TJ? Yeah, I did too. I stopped 6 hours south in El Rosario for tacos last Friday, on Saturday there was a drive by shooting at the La Mijita loncheia. La Mijita is popular with locals and gringos and by all accounts was run by generous people. The targets were 3 'self employeed' area men, but the husband and wife owners were hit by stray bullets. The wife just passed away.
