Pooy Sand

It took a team from Stanford to figure out that ecoli from your poo lives in the sand as well as the water. I guess everyone has to keep busy. I hope it doesn’t take long to come to the conclusion that the sewer systems need an update.

The Jet Stream as viewed from the South pole gives a pretty clear indication of why the next few weeks is going to be pretty small. What we need, is a trough from under NZ to halfway across the Atlantic, then a northward spike pointing directly at us.

46% of White shark attacks were on divers, but in attacks in which the victim was collecting marine creatures, only 10% of attacks were against urchin divers. Abalone divers didn't fair so well though in this statistic, as 56% of those attacks were against them.

The Cali Department of Fish and Game has an Urchin Fishery page which contains some really interesting info: The number one diver in 2006 brought in 233 thousand pounds, worth 118 thousand dollars. Another tidbit: The total California catch has declined dramatically from 25 million pounds in 1991 to 7.5 million pounds in 2003.
