Nixon Art Mosh
Two giant’s of action sports photography greeted visitors as they walked in. Grant Britain’s Mamoth Poloroid prints were impressive in both their scale and subject matter and Steve Sherman displayed choice black and white pics from his years of surf photography.
Further into the show, photography by Dustin Humphries from the Sipping Jetstreams project offered the surfers and skaters in attendance a glimpse of cultures rarely examined. Jon Rose hung choice photos from his recent travels in Baja, Spain and lands unknown.
One highlight of the show for me was Dustin Ortiz’s short run two color screen prints and mixed media paintings. His seven small prints lent a unique graphic expressiveness to common everyday objects and were accessibly priced.
With such a low overhead for the event and the huge amount of positive vibes it generated, an event like this shouldn’t be a rare occurrence. Kudos to Nixon for making it happen.
Update: The mini bike is actually a UNIV x Eneri Abillar collaboration. I left Eneri’s name off the label in the slideshow. My bad Eneri!
