JetStream Models
Jet Stream models from Storm Surf show a steady west/east flow from New Zeland straight across to Chile. This flow is cutting off all storm development and it ain’t changing anytime soon.

dood. tell me about it. we ain’t gettin dink down here. last year we had 14 storm systems come through. this year we’ve had 3 so far and we’re more than half way through our storm season. not good. Also, in addition to no storm swell, we are getting something ridiculous like 1/8 the normal rain we should be getting. It hasn’t rained heavily in two weeks. It should be raining like 3 inches *every night*. all the green is already dying, this usually happens in December. I bet crops are in trouble. Gonna be a long hard winter.

dood. i take everything i said above back. It just rained like a foot in 2 hours. flooded our kitchen and almost flooded the rest of the house. thank gizzod we were home at the time. gnar gnar. The entire street was filled with 3 inches of water, I followed it to the beach. An impromptu waterfall from the street on to the beach with a 30 foot wide flowing river into the ocean, with the most perfectly formed 1 foot tubes. I f I was like 2 feet tall, I’d be stoked.

We are mid way through the season and we’ve only had 3 storm systems pass our way. Last summer we had something like 14. Something about the storm angle being off and heavier than normal jetstream flow across Chile. Global bummer. […]
