Help Save Trestles

The San Diego Chapter of The Surfrider Foundation recently completed 2 videos of presentations on their arguments agains the TCA’s proposed Toll Road which threatens Trestles. The first is by Brian ‘Woody’ Woodward and explains the environmental effects, the second is by Todd Cardiff of Costal Law Group. What we would like to do is get the issue in front of as many eyes as possible by having every interested blogger post the videos on two separate days.

Even if you live nowhere near Trestles, may have never surfed it or never plan to we encourage you to participate. Surf spots are threatened all over the world and the press and the precedent set by a successful action at Trestles could help stop projects that may threaten your home breaks.

If you would like to lend your blog’s influence to a good cause, here are the video embed codes and post scheduals:

    What’s Trestles worth to you?

Help us find out. Researchers at UCLA are conducting a survey of surfers who surf Trestles to evaluate its worth. If you surf Trestles, you can help by visiting this link and filling out the survey on a day you surf (or check) the waves at Trestles.

Your participation can help us better understand the value of surf spots and may improve management of these recreational resources in the future.

    Background:

Researchers at UCLA are conducting a research project on the economics of surfing. For part of the project they are planning to assess the economic value of surfing at Trestles. To do so they need to get as many surfers who surf Trestles as possible to fill out a web-based survey on the day they visited Trestles. The more surfers who fill out the survey the more accurate the estimation. The results will be used in a model to estimate the “willingness to pay” for a day at Trestles and then extrapolated this to a total annual value, etc.
