i think it depends on the spot and the local surf culture around that spot. all spots are different, ones that have a larger influx of visitors with locals living close-by are the spots where gringos are less welcome. you can guess which ones those are.
Over all though, i think it’s all about the local surf culture and the gringo’s skill level and manners.
