Friday night outside the Patagonia Surf Shop, there will be a line so long that nerds driving by will wonder if Patagonia is selling the Playstation 3. Regular surfers will travel from as far away as LA, current and former surf stars will be in attendance. Groms will skate out of the hills of Cardiff by the Sea and camp on the sidewalk for hours to see one of if not the originator of tube style… Gerry Lopez.
I predict a small, well formed and not entirely unpleasant riot. Jeff Johnson will also present his new Bend to Baja book and refreshments will be served. Starts at 6:30.

I hope they have enough chairs this time or it’s more beer drinking on the sidewalk.
Gerry has iconic tube style but don’t forget guys who came before him like Butch Van Artsdale.
