Channel Islands Composite Surfboards
How to compete with Firewire in the growing world of composite surfboards:
1. Write a press release saying you have Kelly on working on it
2. Mention Jake Burton’s name a few times
3. Throw lots of Jakes and Al’s money at it
I wonder if the first step might actually have something to do with Alan Gibbons‘ composite experiments? I hear he is a CI ghost shaper and making some killer composites of his own.

What, so Al isn’t already making enough dough with the Uber Islands franchise, or his mass produced Anacrapa lines?
Jesus Christo broheim, leave some for the rest of us…

If they were made in the USA, why not? I bet something as labor intensive as this though, will get outsourced to guys who’ve never ridden a wave.

Hi,
this is a response to the comments regarding my composite boards. These boards are labors of love, and done completely on my own dime, my own time, and in my own (work) space.
Its all about keeping the stoke alive.

If you play with the “replace” button and put in Peter Line and Forum, you have the same snowboard press release these clowns put out a couple of years ago when they saved snowboarding.
Yea Burton, pat yourself on the back on more time. Your saving the world, one board company at a time.
Peter Line to Develop New Snowboard Technologies with Forum
May 3, 2007
Furthering a relationship that goes back twenty years and eight world titles, Peter Line and Forum’s Evan Rose today announced that Line will work with the company to develop new Snowboard technologies that will benefit the progression of the sport.
Line says, “I am still excited about every board Evan and I work on, even after 20 years. With Jake and crew coming into the company and with the depth of resources they can bring to the table I feel that we can create something totally unique in the industry.”
Peter currently has several Evan signature boards with Forum. Combining efforts is the next logical step for both as they work to progress the sport. Forum was purchased by Burton Snowboards founder Jake Burton Carpenter in 2006, which has allowed Rose the opportunity to concentrate on the craft and develop new and better Snowboards. Having Peter provide feedback on the development of new technologies is also in line with Burton’s own “rider-driven process” of incorporating athlete feedback into each one of its products.
“Peter and I have a great longstanding personal and business relationship,” says Rose. “I am excited now that we have the resources and technologies to develop new and better boards. I know that Peter is going to play a massive part in this and his involvement will help lead Snowboard design into the future.”
“It’s our goal to work with Evan to see that Snowboard technology progresses faster than ever,” says Jake Burton, Founder and Chairman of Burton Snowboards. “We have all known that Peter is an integral part of this process, and not merely because of his standing in the sport, but also because of his unique understanding of what makes a Snowboard work, his determination to make it better and his commitment to finding ways to accomplish all of this in a more environmentally friendly manner. I look forward to being around and benefiting from Peter’s involvement and leadership.”
