Hey wow, check out this video of GH I found on Mollusk’s site.
People vs. Basij. People win. More on the #IranElection.
This Thursday the present will be screening with the Matson 2 at Shelter Surf Shop in Long Beach. Good chance to see it if you didn’t, great chance to watch that insane alaia barrel at the end again if you have.
Also, you can fondle some insane sliders like this one:
The lovely Maggie Marsek (you may know her as Miss Surfy Surfy 2009) has a booth Saturday and Sunday at the Encinitas Street Fair. It’s going to be right across from the Soft Spra car wash.
You should stop by and leaf through the prints. It’s like looking through records only you don’t have to spin them on anything to hear beautiful music.

This feature on Surfline just got me insanely stoked on seeing the present this weekend in Encinitas at the La Paloma. Maggie and I have our tickets, we’ve seen the trailer, we bought the Mattson 2 album and some Ray Barbee tunes and we are ready to see it all diced and spliced, packaged and shit… what’s surfy that rhymes with packaged? Crackage… swackage? Anyways, you know all the heads are going to be there and that afterward, the Saloon will be impossible to navigate. MMMM MMM fun.
If you don’t have your tickets head down to see Devon at Patagonia Cardiff. I wonder if the tickets have the same ironclad guarantee as everything else they sell?
Here are some pics from the flick you might not have seen yet…

I’ve been just surfing lately. Not really reading about it, and obviously not blogging about it. One long day at The Sacred Craft was all it took to re-ignite my surf stuff stoke.
Before we get any further, I have to say now that Maggie Marsek has about 100 photos of the show on her site.
Maggie and I roamed around taking a full hour and a half to make our way down the first row. We talked to JP, Peter and Sally at Moonlight; marveled over Marlin’s fin display and were afraid to touch John Cherry’s craftsmanship.

I’m rating this the photo of Sacred Craft 08. Jed Noll, John Cherry, Greg Noll. Photo: Maggie Marsek Click for larger image.

While fondling a 9 foot Christenson gun across the row, I actually calculated the distance to the door and whether or not I could make it outside without dinging it. Unpossible. We noted that… (more…)
Saturday will be a great day for the Sacred Craft. There should be swell in the morning, and wind in the afternoon, which gives you an excuse to get out of the water and check out all the sweet sliders you wish this Bush/McCain economy would let you buy.
Also, for you wetsuit freaks, Patagucci will be giving away the new front zip. You gotta fill out a card at the booth to win, which gives you a perfect opportunity to tell Gerry you like his tube riding.

Former southern California surfing standout Tom Wegener moved to Australia in the late ’90s, where he settled down to start a family and a surfboard business. Over the past decade, Tom has focused his craft around building hollow, wooden boards and has poured a ton of work and research into riding ancient Hawaiian surfcraft known as alaias. Join Tom for a slide show and video about wood boards and the speed and thrill of riding a flat piece of wood without any fins.

Patagonia will attempt to fit as many people into Cardiff by the Sea as possible this Saturday night with the world premiere of Chris Malloy’s new film, One Track Mind. It’s pretty much a must attend, with two showings (7:30 & 8:45) to attempt to alleviate the massive crowds. Parking will be so bad, that I’m going ride the coaster from Encinitas and hope for a soft to landing when jumping off at Cardiff.
Ok, it might not be that crazy, but it WILL be the place to be early Saturday evening. Later that night, I’m betting The Office and The Shanty will be packed to capacity.
The fine tradition of animation in surf films is carried in One Track Mind by Alex Kopps:

Thanks to Devon Howard for the heads up and getting some cool art my way.
The U.S. premiere of Nathan Oldfield’s film, Seaworthy will take place this Saturday night in Long Beach, cali. The trailer:
