Made In Taiwan.

Friday, August 29th, 2008

So this guy has to stay in a hotel for a month in Taiwan while waiting on a work visa. He gets just the slightest bit bored, and whips up a hollow wooden surfboard, then goes and rips it. Insane. Via Brownfish.

Bunker77

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Bunker77… the life and high times of Bunker Spreckels looks awesome, I mean, if you are into surfing, sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll. I’m not saying I dig that stuff, mind you… but some people might wish they weren’t 5 years old in the 70s.

One complaint… when will documentary style surf films stop biting Riding Giant’s animation, and get their own art direction? Biting that style undermines the uniqueness of the film.

Thanks Pat!

A Few Hours In The Life Of Surfboard Builders

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Surfboard builders have it rough. They’ve got to cruise surf shops, hang out in funky work shops and let shiftless surf bloggers tag along with them all day. Oh yeah, then there are the life threatening tacos. JP (surfysurfy) and Manuel Caro (Mandala) getting it done, for the rest of us.

Maggie’s New Site and a Patagonia Window

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Photographer Maggie Marsek has tons going on right now. For starters, she was given an entire display window by the folks at Patagonia Cardiff. It looks great:

Patagonia cardiff - maggie marsek

You can peep her work and get a pair of the best boardies going at Chesterfield and San Elijo Ave in Cardiff for about a month.

Maggie has a New Site!

It’s been forever since Maggie’s site has been updated, so she gathered together lots of new work and we did a refresh. The biggest addition is a gallery of images from her Shelter show earlier in the summer. Some of my favorites.

Maggie at the Leucadia Art Walk!

This Sunday the 31st, Maggie will be hosting a booth at the famous and funky Leucadia Art walk. I know your walls aren’t as stoked as the could be… that’s why you should head down and pick up a reasonably priced matted or framed print. Her booth will be across the street from A Little More Coffee Shop at The Corner Frame shop. (Map)
